Invisible In The Canal   (IIC)

  • Smallest and least visible
  • Completely invisible in most ears
  • Deep placement in the ear canal imporves oveall sound quality and the sound of the hearing aid wearer’s own voice.
  • IIC model works fully automatically.
  • Small extension cord attached to the outside for easy removal
  • Can fit mild to moderate hearing losses

 

Completely In The Canal   (CIC)

  • Custom fit to your ear
  • Second smallest cusom hearing aid style
  • Less visible than larger cutom styles
  • Small extension cord attached to the outside for easy removal
  • Can fit moderate to severe hearing losses

 

In The Canal   (ITC)

  • Slightly larger than CIC hearing aids
  • Can include manual volume control
  • Can include push button for program changes
  • Rechargable or regular battery operated

 

In The Ear  (ITE)

  • Hearing aids can be made in two sizes: one that fills most of the concha or outer ear (full shell), and one that fills only the lower portion of the outer ear (half shell).
  • Easier to handle for people with dexterity or visual issues
  • Rechargable or regular battery operated
  • Can include controls such as volume and memory that may not fit on smaller custom models

 

Receiver In The Canal (RIC)

  • Can fit mild to profound hearing losses
  • Because the receiver is not housed in the device, RICs are typically smaller and more discreet than BTEs.
  • Offers a comfortable open fit, allowing for a natuaral sound quality of the hearing aid wearer’s voice
  • Rechargable or regular battery operated

 

Behind The Ear (BTE)

  • Classic behind-the-ear model is the choice for some with severe to profound hearing loss or if the patient has very tiny ear canals. All of the electronic components of a classic BTE model are located in housing behind the ear.
  • A slim plastic tube with an earmold at the end directs the ampified sound from the hearing aid into the ear.
  • Manual controls are available for volume and program.
